In early 2002 when Ancestor Travel was moving from
a concept to a reality, Ancestor Travel's
researcher Nikki Archer-Waring discovered a long
lost cousin. (The excitement of Family Research discovery!)
Who Nikki found in her bloodline however was
one of the 20th centuries most amazing characters, Ronald
de Valderano, the 18th Duke of Valderano.
To be exact, a man who along with his late wife Honor,
has lived a most remarkable and extraordinary life,
a life that most of us can only dream about. From his
thrilling experiences including meeting with Hitler
and operating behind enemy lines in WW2, to his time
with Honor spent combating international terrorism and
organised crime, from seeing off a gang of IRA members
to the shocking sights of civil war in Anogola, his
life is a breathtaking, funny, exciting, colourful,
and often chilling kaleidoscope of history.
On the family history front, the Duke is an avid family
historian, with a family ancestry that stretches back
to pre 10th century. As Patron and adviser to Ancestor
Travel, the Duke of Valderano's extensive experience
and knowledge of modern and ancient history, geo politics,
royalty, global geography, and ancestral research is
invaluable.
Still very much active as a global authority on terrorism,
the Duke has written a compelling book called the Owl
and the Pussycat, dedicated to his late wife Honor,
which details their astonishing life together.
Ronald de Valderano: 18th Duke of Valderano, Marquess
of Rio Castel, Count of Varinge, Hereditary Knight of
the Sword Belt, Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St
George, Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Ignatius
of Antioch, Knight Order of Military Merit of Portugal
And the Duke's late wife, Honor: Dame Grand Cross of
the Order of St George.
